Well, he we go!
A few sources are telling me to be on the lookout for the first shoe to fall as early as today.
"There are an unprecedented amount of possibilities and a very limited timeframe right now," one GM said when asked if he believed the trading could get started early this season, "If we don't get going soon we won't get this done."
In general the groundwork begins at the GM meetings (which took place last week) and then there is a quiet time until a day or so before the draft. However, with the amount of buyouts and players requesting trades, coupled with a slew of changes at the GM/Coaching level, this timeframe may be shifting.
One source put it at "90% we see a big move by end of business Friday."
The other prominent belief among the GMs and agents is once the first big player gets moved everything else could happen quickly and fall into focus.
There are thee ways to improve your team over the next several weeks. Trade, draft, sign. I get a sense that GMs want to exhaust them in that order and not mix the trade possibilities with the draft. If at all possible.
I will have my rumor update shortly, but I thought I should throw this out there because on my calls so far today there is a real sense of urgency among sources. Everyone is extra curious to hear what I am hearing and looking for clues.
Be back soon with the update and we will further discuss this on the podcast at 1 pm for certain.
