Letang Fully Cleared For Practice (Penguins)

This news is as much unexpected as it is incredibly positive. Kris Letang has been fully cleared to practice by his doctors.

There is not a timetable set for his return but this news can only be viewed as a positive for Kris Letang's quality of life. he wouldn't be receiving this kind of clearance unless he has made significant positive gains in his treatment.

Letang is a game changer for the Penguins. The Penguins need him to make a legitimate run at the Stanley Cup. What was previously thought to be a season ending ailment for Letang has turned into guarded optimism.

The Penguins desperately need puck skilled d men to compete at a high level. There is light at the end of the tunnel now with the Letang situation. I believe he will play again this season, I would have never predicted that.

There will naturally be concerns about him returning from such a significant life event but that dynamic is certainly not lost on the doctors. He will only return to playing if he is ready.

Congrats to Kris Letang on his great news.

Also in the good news department Beau Bennett has been cleared for full practice as well. He might get hurt a lot but there is no denying that his presence in the lineup (wherever it may be) makes the Penguins a better team than when he is out hurt.

In the bad news department Jayson Megna, who played a very nice game (3rd star), looks like he could have a potential concussion after being hit in the head by Steve Downie.

I will have a write up tomorrow about the game today.
