The St. Louis Blues have signed AHL defensemen Brett Regner to a one year contract. One top of that, they have brought back Phil McRae into the system on a one year deal as well.
Regner has played in the Blues minor league systems for the last few years. At first with Peoria, then with Chicago this season. He's been a steady defender in the AHL and will be a solid depth defender for the Wolves next season as well.
McRae is a very interesting signing, as he left the Blue system this year to play in Finland. After signing with Tappara Tampere in the SM-liiga, he was later deal to the Espoo Blues in Finland. McRae posted eight goals and 13 assists in 53 games in Finland this year, and his defensive game has said to have been rather average last season. So his return to St. Louis is odd.
I'll continue updating with any Blues signings and trades and will have a more extensive piece later this evening as free agent day closes.
