Thank you to all who reached out to express concern for my son Maxwell. Max took an accidental stick to the stomach during a game and suffered a ruptured spleen. He was rushed to Norwood Hospital and then to Children's. Maxwell was playing center in a U 14 Tournament for his South Shore Kings this weekend. He scored a goal in the previous game; a 4-3 win.
After the accident on the ice, Max wanted to stay on and play in the game even though he was in distress. He's a game kid; a hockey player and a Stewart to the hilt. Special thanks also to his coach and all at the rink for their care and concern. Max has been resting in the hospital.
My wife, Lori, has been at Max's side. I have been with our older son, McCauley, He was invited to try out with the OJHL A level Kingston Voyageurs. We made our way here via The Pike and 81 North with the mandatory stop for BBQ vittles.
McCauley has getting a taste of Canadian hockey, playing D for the gold squad and then two games at the beautiful rink complex, The Investa Center. The place also the Home of the original Hockey Hall of Fame as touted by Don "Grapes" Cherry.
Maxwell's situation threw a damper on what started out as a tremendously enjoyable weekend. Not the way anyone wanted to spend their summer. My guys will be OK, though. I'm a proud dad.
