Those are two points that may come back to bite the Nashville Predators. Last night’s 3-2 loss to Colorado was disappointing on many levels. A flat start that led to a 2-0 Colorado lead, a good pushback to tie the game, then a greasy Colorado goal midway through the third and it was all she wrote given Av’s netminder Semyon Varlamov’s excellent play throughout the game.

Nashville’s response at the start of the game was a clear demonstration of the reason for the frustration being shown by Pred Nation. A stirring won on Thursday gave hope for the team to have finally turned the corner and be able to string a couple of wins together, but Colorado’s game plan of speed and physicality knocked the Preds off their game.

So, the elephant in the room remains, the Predators have not won back-to-back games since mid-November, special teams have been maddeningly inconsistent and the team is not playing to its potential and since the team returned from the CMA road trip they are 7-8-3. Not terrible… but certainly not the torrid 8-2-2 pace the team started the season with.

Calgary is in town on Tuesday… 7pm game time.
