Vlad Putin is the ultimate jock sniffer. Just don't tell him that to his face. Or else bad things will happen.
The Russian Prime Minister loves mixing it up with his NHL friends Alex Ovechkin, Evgeni Malkin, Alex Mogilny and Pavel Bure. Recently, Putin punked an group of school kids from the Sirius academy for gifted children at the Olympic Ice Palace in Sochi.
The Great 8. Geno, Alexander The Great, The Russian Rocket and other notables joined Putin's 'Veteran'. That's Russian for "Ringers".
Putin's squad won 9-5.

"Marner's still bitter about the OHL scoring race".
Shots Fired!
Just one of the delightful chirps that jumped out of Jack Eichel's mouth while the Buffalo Sabres phenom skated with 38 other NHL blue chippers at Tuesday's NHL Rookie Showcase in Toronto.
Eichel was beaking Toronto Maple Leafs prospect and former London Knight Mitch Marner who lost the OHL scoring title to Arizona Coyotes first rounder Dylan Strome. That's how it goes in the Battle Of The QEW. No love lost at all between Sabres and Leafs fans. Here's hoping that the rage and vitriol continues for the next 20 years of Eichel's Buffalo career.
Here's Jack Eich'd up:
One wonders if Eichel chirps like he does only when he is mic'd up? Or, does he do it 24-7-365? My guess is that he chirps and talks smack all day long, every day.
I love the kid's moxie.
Check out Eichel's awesome display of free-styling as he and his Massachusetts home boy Noah Hanifin lay a beat down on Connor McDavid and Dylan Strome in an NHL 2016 Challenge.
@BarDown paired Eichel and Hanifin together on the Boston Bruins because both hail from the Beantown area. McDavid and Strome, former Erie Otters teammates. are GTA boys and represented the Maple Laffs.
It was no contest. The confident and cocky Yanks were handled 5-2 by the Canadian kids.
Watch and listen to the 18 minutes of video below. Eichel is hilarious in his play by play stylings. After the loss he admitted that he was furious. That's what I want to see in Eichel. Refuse to lose.

Evander Kane is known for his slick offensive scoring prowess.
Today, he is being lauded for his defensive expertise.
Kane has made one of the biggest saves of his personal life. last weekend, he performed a public display of affection for his then former girlfriend and model Mara Teigen. Kane purchased a billboard on one of the poshest, upscale streets in Hollywood to profess his love for Teigen.
Last Saturday, I told you that Kane had recently leased a billboard above 1 OAK in West Hollywood, which is one of the most heavily-trafficked thoroughfares in SoCal. The billboard is getting maximum exposure amongst all of the rich, affluent, sexy people in Lipstick City.

— #CelebrityHour (@CelebrityHour) August 29, 2015Earlier this summer, there was internet chatter about a Kane-Teigen break up. However, buying Beverly Hills billboards to profess one's love is one helluva way to score major points and a sure fire way to win her back.
Today comes news that Kane's creativity and undying devotion to Teigen has resulted in an amicable resolution. Hear Teigen express her thoughts on the Kane billboard proposal in her own words:

Kane will soon be departing his Los Angeles summer home to begin pre-training camp workout sessions with his new Sabres teammates in Buffalo. The Sabres will report to training camp on September 17.
Kane was traded to Buffalo from Winnipeg last February. He has yet to suit up and play his first game in his new Blue & Gold gear. The Sabres promptly shut down the 30 goals scorer and fast-tracked him directly Kane to their orthopedic surgeon to have a procedure on his ailing shoulder. He has since made a 100% healthy recovery.
Sabres fans are clamoring to get their first glimpses of Kane in his shiny new #9 sweater.
Kane will most likely be in the starting lineup when the Sabres travel to Pominville Version 2.0 (Minnesota) to play the Wild in their 2015 preseason opener.
On September 23, Buffalo fanatics will get their first official look at Kane as he and the Sabres will host the Ottawa Senators in a preseason tilt on Buffalo's rink.
I can't wait!

Tuesday September 1st was the final day of summer vacation for a few dozen NHL blue chip rookies.
Jack Eichel, Connor McDavid, Dylan Strome, Mitch Marner, Noah Hanifin and others participated in the NHLPA Rookie Showcase on Monday and Tuesday. The boys posed for their hockey card photos, played bubble hockey and were on display for the NHL media.
Now, the fun time ends and the heavy lifting begins.
This weekend, the rookies will participate in the NHL/NHLPA Rookie Orientation in Washington, D.C.
On Sunday, Eichel and his buds with whom he has spend a ton of quality time this summer will go their separate ways.
Time to buckle down and get to work.
Eichel and his fellow Sabres rooks will be hosting the New Jersey Devils and Boston Bruins in a three team round robin tourney which will take place on FNC and HARBORCenter ice from 9/12 through 9/14.
Right now, Eichel's head space is focused on one thing: making Dan Bylsma's roster when training camp ends at the end of September.
“I think it’s starting to get real,… Eichel said Tuesday.
“I have to earn my spot on the Sabres, earn everything I get in the next month and a half. Just going into it with an open mind and try to be positive with the whole process. It’s an exciting time for me to finally get this all going.
“I’m a big believer nothing is given to you so I have to go out and earn it. Then I guess I’ll be able to see where I see my season is going after that.…
I like Jack's attitude.
Nothing in the NHL is given. Eichel will have to earn his roster spot.
He will have to earn the respect of his coaches, team mates, and training staff. He will have to earn his ice time. He will have to earn his special teams time.
Thanks, Sportsnet
