DSP Traded (Ducks)

DSP Traded

The Ducks sent Devante Smith-Pelly to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for LW Jiri Sekac. I look at this as more of a positional need deal. When I wrote earlier this week that the Ducks needed a left wing, Sekac wasn't who I was thinking of.

He is a talented perimeter player and might have the skills to compliment Getzlaf and Perry. Sekac's arrival doesn't mean that Bob Murray won't get another LW. Also, there is nothing written in stone that Sekac is a Duck for the long term.

DSP has been disappointing this season. His 5 goals and 12 assists were much less than was expected when the season began. It seemed like he couldn't get his mojo working this season. Someone of his size needs to crash the net and he didn't do it.

Heart

That night the Ducks showed the heart and grit needed to pull out a big win over a quality opponent that haven't had in over a month. There are still too many penalties and giveaways, but the fact that the Ducks showed the determination needed to overcome their mistakes says plenty about their character.

I'll analyze more of reader submitted Ducks trade offers tomorrow. You can still PM me with your offer.
