The Calgary Flames lost more than a pair of hockey games to the Edmonton Oilers on Monday night.
Defenseman T.J. Brodie, who is one of the team's most important players, suffered a broken hand and will be out of the picture for a while.
#Flames GM Brad Treliving tells us TJ Brodie has suffered a broken bone in his hand. Surgery not needed. He's week-to-week.
— Pat Steinberg (@Fan960Steinberg) September 23, 2015Treliving says the recovery time for Brodie ranges between 3 and 6 weeks. Won't be able to pinpoint it precisely for a few days. #Flames
— Pat Steinberg (@Fan960Steinberg) September 23, 2015That's a tough blow for the Flames but in a perfect he returns in closer to three weeks than six.
If he takes 3-4 weeks to recover he'll likely only sit out five or six games while if he heals slowly and takes the full six weeks we won't be seeing him for all 12 games the Flames are scheduled to play in October.
It's a good thing GM Brad Treliving went out and acquired Dougie Hamilton in the off-season because the Flames are definitely going to need him.
Expect the Flames to lean heavily on Hamilton and Mark Giordano to start the year.
