Calgary Flames Defenseman T.J. Brodie Out 3-6 Weeks With Broken Hand (NHL)

The Calgary Flames lost more than a pair of hockey games to the Edmonton Oilers on Monday night.

Defenseman T.J. Brodie, who is one of the team's most important players, suffered a broken hand and will be out of the picture for a while.

That's a tough blow for the Flames but in a perfect he returns in closer to three weeks than six.

If he takes 3-4 weeks to recover he'll likely only sit out five or six games while if he heals slowly and takes the full six weeks we won't be seeing him for all 12 games the Flames are scheduled to play in October.

It's a good thing GM Brad Treliving went out and acquired Dougie Hamilton in the off-season because the Flames are definitely going to need him.

Expect the Flames to lean heavily on Hamilton and Mark Giordano to start the year.
