Wings get OT win and Debrincat gets a Gordie? (Red Wings)

Summary: If I were going to list 3 to 5 players I thought would get a Gordie Howe Hat Trick (Goal, Assist, Fight) Debrincat wouldn’t be on that list. Yet, the ‘Cat managed to do just that. Two goals for Walman, a goal for Larkin, and Lucas Raymond with a beautiful shot between the legs of a defender and into the net for an OT win. One that Nashville is likely shaking their head out. Detroit was outshot 37-23 by the Preds, and as soon as things seemed to tilt in Detroit’s direction Nashville had the answer.

Yes, I miss Gus Nyquist. That doesn’t make it easier when he’s scoring against you. Filip Forsberg may be the prize in one of the more regrettable trades Washington ever made. He is still making his presence known.

Lyon had to face a lot of tough shots and still saw 4 go past him. There were egregious turnovers, bad passes, but in the end a win that was desperately needed. Honestly, this was one that puts your stomach in knots. Take the ‘w’ and move on. Having Lyon may well have boosted the team. Walman made a lot of big plays, but I’m still shaking my head that Debrincat got the Gordie. I wonder if the team will make him a plaque like the one given to Pav years ago.

Maybe a rough win goes further than good execution through 60 minutes in terms of confidence, but it certainly gets the blood pumping. The music in the dressing room is probably pretty loud tonight with a lot of smiles all around. There are plenty of areas to address, but tonight we’ll let the boys have some fun.

Detroit First Period goals: At 4:02 Larkin steals the puck as Wings are short handed. He walked into the Nashville zone and scored an unassisted tally 1-0 DET

Nashville had tied the game, but with 21.6 seconds left Walman regained the one goal lead as he took a spin around pass from Rasmussen and wristed a shot blocker side.
