This just in....
The big fear surrounding the trade deadline has been the Canadian teams not wanting to give up an asset and then have to wait 14 days for the player they traded for to be ready. The Standings are too tight to weeken yourself and not get the return...
You might think this only affects Canadian teams, but the reality is this issue affects everyone because the players available are being bid on by teams north and south of the border. Therefore, the sellers, who obviously want more buyers, are waiting to see how this issue works out.
I mentioned this in the podcast earlier this week, but the Canadian teams are starting to act a bit more confident, some all but stating to me that they are going to get an exemption of sorts since the players they are trading for are constantly being tested for the virus...
Today I am told we could see a new policy over the weekend that will open up the NHL trade market for business. I am told Canada may shorten the quarantine to one week as long as the player has passed a COVID test with his current team.
What do you think? Should Canada stick to their strict rules?
