Summary: The final shots were 47-19. The game shouldn’t have even been close. However, Seider and Walman were a big part of keeping Detroit in this contest. No one played a bigger part than Alex Lyon.
A loss hurts, but one point instead of zero is a positive. I’d gone into this game hoping from at least an OT point and that that’s where Detroit ended up. Badly outshot, and in no way a match for the forecheck of Edmonton, Lyon gave Detroit a badly needed step in the right direction.
Edmonton has improved in every area of the ice. This team is hungrier, faster (if that’s possible) and better able to shut down rushes. Bouchard really impressed with his work as his development has come a long way. It’s very clear that the Oilers are in a different category than Detroit in terms of contention and they have to play a near perfect 2nd half which the Oilers have hte talent to pull off.
If you enjoy hockey, this was a fun back and forth. Honestly, it was probably the best goaltending we’ve seen in a couple years. Detroit fans may be unhappy with the loss, but having a net presence that can bring confidence to the team is invaluable.
Truly exciting saves, and honestly a nice surprise to see Detroit make it to the extra time. Let me know your thoughts in the comments. I still find myself amazed at how good Seider really is. Yzerman’s first pick for Detroit still stands a head above the rest (figuratively of course).

At 16:03 there was a vivid reminder of a goal against Patrick Roy in the day. Raymond passes to Perron who shoots and the puck sits on the line. Chiarot pokes it in to tie the game at 2-2
