Just talked to a source and despite the general belief the Flyers are going to keep Nolan Patrick with the big team is "far from a certainty."
My source confirmed that Hextall is 'very much undecided and wants to see how Patrick is mentally around the veterans..."
There was a time in Philly when there would have been no doubt, a player taken this high in the draft would be a Flyer...especially coming onto a team that had just missed the playoffs...and many more, including myself, felt the trading of Schenn and the fact that Giroux and Voracek are in their prime would mean the Nolan Patrick would be assured a spot as soon as possible...
Also, the fact Nolan Patrick was old for his draft class you would think would play into the decision as well...but it doesn't appear to be.
This appears to be more of a decision based around keeping the pressure off of Nolan Patrick and allowing a player who has been often injured and under the microscope for several years....
Flyers fans will finally get a chance to see Patrick in orange and black this Wednesday at the rookie game...
I get the feeling this decision will be much debated around here...
What do you think?
