Shakeup In Wild Coaching Staff? (Wild)

According to The Athletic's Michael Russo, Wild Assistant Coach John Anderson may not be returning after not having his contract renewed.

We all know that Anderson and Bruce Boudreau are best friends, so what does this mean as the Wild move forward?

If this decision was made above Boudreau, which by all accounts it appears to be, how will this sit with the Wild head coach?

I have to think that this will be a source of contention with Boudreau, much like it was with Joel Quenneville in Chicago, when Stan Bowman excused long time assistant Mike Kitchen.

It does not take much reading between the lines to know that a new GM wants his own staff. Paul Fenton is eventually going to bring in his own coach, that just comes with the territory.

So does Fenton act swiftly when the Stanley Cup Finals are over and bring in Barry Trotz, or does he wait until the new season has begun and the first sign of trouble make the move?

Anderson may just be the first domino to fall by the sheer fact that his contract was up, time will tell.

Either way these next couple of weeks leading up to the draft should be interesting for new Wild GM, Fenton, as he works to retool the roster.

It has been reported that Fenton is exploring all options which is pretty open ended. The fact that Fenton talked about hockey trades is absolutely the best case scenario for the Wild to bring in the missing ingredients while trading value in return.

We have speculated a whole lot as to which players are available and who may be heading out. The most mentioned names are Nino Niederreiter, Charlie Coyle, and Matt Dumba.

To me Dumba seems the least likely as the Wild transition game took a big step backward last season after the loss of Marco Scandella. Not to mention the fact that Dumba is just now entering the prime of his career at 23 he has the ability to be the cornerstone of the Wild defense for years to come.

I know that many state of hockey purists dislike Dumba for his erratic play in the defensive zone, but in today's NHL defensemen with the speed and skill of Matt Dumba, do not come along every day.

There are many areas that Fenton needs to address, but hopefully he is open to moving any and all players/contracts and he explores as many options as humanly possible.
