1) World Junior Summer Showcase Update: Team USA Blue, featuring Flyers prospects Joel Farabee, Bobby Brink and Cam York defeated Team Sweden, featuring Flyers prospect Adam Ginning, by a 4-2 score on Saturday in the first full day of games at the 2019 World Junior Summer Showcase.
Farabee skated on left wing of the USA Blue top line, along with Alex Turcotte (LA Kings prospect) and Cole Caufield (Montreal Canadiens). Farabee assisted on a Turcotte goal that gave their side a 3-0 lead in the latter stages of the first period.
Brink played right wing on the second line with Jonathan Gruden (Ottawa Senators) and John Beecher (Boston Bruins). Brink did not record a point but showed off some of his "little big man" competitiveness and posted two shots on goal.
York was paired on defense with Spencer Stastney (Nashville Predators). York did not record a point. He had one shot on goal and took a hooking minor (USA Blue killed it off) early in the second period.
For Sweden, Ginning was paired with Nils Lundkvist (New York Rangers). Ginning was credited with three shots on goal. Lundkvist sustained a lower-body injury and will miss the remainder of the tournament.
Of local player interest, Voorhees native Mattias Samuelsson (Buffalo Sabres) recorded an assist in the game for USA Blue. He was paired on defense with Ty Emberson (Arizona Coyotes).
