Quick Hits: January 29, 2024
1) The Flyers are on a much-needed weeklong hiatus that will last through the NHL All-Star Break. Other than Travis Konecny, who will be representing the Flyers in the All-Star Game on Saturday afternoon, the entire team will have a full week off to rest and recuperate from what was a rollercoaster month of January. Practice will resume on Sunday and Monday in Sunrise, Florida. Next Tuesday, Feb. 6, the Flyers schedule will resume with a game against the Florida Panthers at Amerant Bank Arena.
2) Ask Billy: On this week's Mondays with Meltzer episode of the Flyers Daily podcast, Jason Myrtetus and I did a two-part edition of "Ask Billy" questions submitted by podcast listeners. We had more than 50 minutes of material, so we split it into a two-part episode. In Part 1, Jason and I talk about the Own Tippett and Ryan Poehling Poehling extensions, the five-game losing skid, roster locks and potential trade candidates going forward, and more: Click here.
3) Tomorrow's blog at HockeyBuzz will be a Meltzer's Musings about various issues surrounding the Flyers as they head into the All-Star break. I will also have a farm system update on the Flyers' official website.
4) Did you miss the 2024 Flyers Alumni Game? Want to rewatch Mark Recchi's two goals, Mike Richards' shorthanded goal, and/or the tallies by Donald Brashear, Eric Lindros and Patrick Sharp? The full rebroadcast of Friday's livestream broadcast on YouTube is below.
