Quick Hits: 11th Pick Available?, TIHF (Flyers)

Quick Hits: June 8, 2024

1) Elliotte Friedman reported earlier this week that the Buffalo Sabres are making the 11th overall pick in the 2024 Entry Draft available if they can obtain an NHL-level upgrade that would help them end their current streak of missing the playoffs in 13 consecutive seasons.

The Flyers hold the 12th overall pick in this year's Draft. They may have interest in obtaining the 11th pick and being able to make back-to-back selections. Apart from the Florida Panthers' first-round pick (which will either fall 31st or 32nd overall) or the Colorado Avalanche's 2025 first-rounder obtained in the Sean Walker trade, what else would the Flyers be willing to part with if the 11th pick is, in fact, available?

2) Today in Flyers History: June 8, 1983

The Flyers trade former All-Star defenseman Behn Wilson to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for defenseman Doug Crossman. Primarily paired with Brad Marsh, Crossman would go on to play on the Flyers' second pairing for most of his Philadelphia career including runs to the Stanley Cup Final in 1984-85 and 1986-87.

The Flyers also receive a 1984 second-round Draft pick in the deal. Philly uses the pick to select power forward Scott Mellanby.

3) Flyers Alumni birthdays: Vaclav Pletka (1979), Darren Reid (1983).
