By Volume (blackhawks)

Assuming they are all still with the Hawks beyond this season, Alex DeBrincat, Patrick Kane, and Dylan Strome are more or less givens to pot 40, 30, and 20 goals respectively. Kane could have more apples than lamp lighters so he could be closer to the 20-25 range. Who can deposit 30 then?

Taylor Raddysh is the best candidate to do so as early as next year.

So far in the 20 games since the Brandon Hagel trade, Raddysh has delivered admirably scoring at a 25-goal pace over an 82-game slate. In addition to his 0.50 PPG clip, he has also proven that skating isn't a deficiency as it previously was in his young career and that he competes up and down the ice.

Besides the goal scoring and capacity to make an impact without the puck on his blade, one particular attribute that makes Raddysh effective is he's a volume shooter. He will take shots any which way from far away to in close and score using sniper tallies to garbage goals. He had a career-high 8 SOGs last night.

If he builds off of this season and hits another level in 2022-23 and seasons beyond, there isn't any reason why he couldn't have a similar trajectory as Patrick Sharp who went from 14 goals to 20 goals to 36 goals in his first 3 full seasons in the NHL mainly with the Hawks but 22 games as a Flyer in 2005-06.

Sharp was also a volume shooter who could score any which way and also be a cog on both special teams like Raddysh has had the opportunity to be in his initial stint with Chicago. Similar to Sharp, Raddysh is able to play a hybrid style balancing a power forward mentality with finesse and smarts.

Further down the road are a pair of forward prospects to watch for who also fit the mold of volume-shooting scoring wingers and who could campaign to be fixtures in the middle 6. One is Rockford sophomore Michal Teply and the other is Kirby Dach's younger brother Colton who could stay in juniors for one more season.

Highlights

IceHogs Notebook

* Ian Mitchell sat out Wednesday's game versus the Wild with no indication of a new injury or illness; with just 2 games remaining in the regular season, the healthy scratch could very well be a maintenance day for the Hogs #1 defenseman.

* Jaxson Stauber could earn his first pro start in one of this weekend's games to cap off the regular season; the Hogs are in Milwaukee on Friday to battle with the Admirals then host the Wolves on Saturday.
