John Wroblewski will be the new head coach of the AHL's Ontario Reign, the Los Angeles Kings announced yesterday.

Wroblewski comes to the organization after spending time with USA Hockey's National Team Development Program. During his time there, he coached Cole Caufield, Joel Farabee, Brady Tkachuk, Oliver Wahlstrom, Trevor Zegas and both Jack and Quinn Hughes, among others. He could also be reunited with Alex Turcotte in Ontario, who he coached in both the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons.

The news comes a couple of months after the Kings decided not to renew Mike Stothers’ contract. Stothers had been the team’s coach for six seasons.

To me, Wroblewski seems like a great hire. Los Angeles will have a few key years for developing their top prospects and it’s important to have a coach who’s experienced in working with young players. Wroblewski fits the criteria and should play a large role in taking the prospect pool and producing NHL-caliber players.
