Kerby Rychel Named to Memorial Cup All-Star Team (Kerby Rychel)

Kerby Rychel continues to gain recognition for his spectacular season, as he was named to the Memorial Cup all-star team after the tournament concluded.

While his Guelph Storm fell short of winning the Memorial Cup - they fell to the Edmonton Oil Kings in the Final - Rychel can rest easy knowing there's not much more he could have done.

The 19-year-old winger picked up two assists and was a plus-player in a 6-3 loss, which was the last game of his junior hockey career.

Rychel finished the tournament with seven points (3G, 4A) in four games, and recorded two points in three of his four contests.

As I mentioned last week, the Blue Jackets are a little shallow when it comes to offensive punch on the wing, and it likely won't be too long before he's an NHL regular.

At 6'1, 200+lbs, he already has a pro body, and the CHL clearly wasn't much of a test for him this season, as he posted 48 goals and 129 points in 82 games including the playoffs and Memorial Cup.

I don't think it's a stretch to say he'll be in Columbus' opening day lineup next season.
