When the news hit that Jack Hughes was out for the Devils prior to Tuesday’s meeting with the Blue Jackets, I did what you all should probably do for the remainder of the season. Purchase the proverbial “fan insurance”.
Fan insurance is a term I coined and a method I’ve been practicing since the days of off shore, web based, sports betting. We’ve discussed this here before, but in case you’ve missed it I’ll break it down quickly with a quick scenario. Let’s use last night for example.
- Jack ruled out
- Devils in a rut
- Essentially every game is a must win going forward
- So I bet the opposition
- Devils lose as expected
- I’m still pissed off
- I got paid
I mentioned this last season and it was met with a bit more opposition than I had expected. But let’s be honest, who do you know better than your own team? The Devils ability to not win and definitely not score sans Jack Hughes is unfortunately something I’m very well versed in. Time to fill your pockets, because NJ certainly cannot fill the net.
Other notes:
-As bad as the team is at scoring, the General Manager is 10x worse at making trades.
This is three years now that major roster needs go unaddressed. Having now burnt through any bonus/early years of potential contention, win now mode is on. Can someone please relay that message to Tom Fitzgerald?
-Finally I will leave you with a list of players and coaches that the Devils should not trade or fire:
Not a typo…
