Game notes:
- Adam Henrique is expected to return to the lineup tonight against Winnipeg and will surely be a big boost in all areas. He has nine points in 12 games and has been a regular on what has consistently been one of the league's top penalty kills in recent years.
- Adam Larsson has been playing very well of late, and has quietly became the best possesion defenseman on the Devils owning a 55CF% at even-strength. He's also taken a regular shift on what has suddenly become a very hot penalty killing unit. If he continues to play like this he won't be sitting when Jon Merrill and Bryce Salvador are healthy.
- Don't be fooled by Winnipeg's low goals per game average. They've been without Evander Kane for most of the season, play an up tempo system and are averaging a hair under 30 shots per game. They have plenty of talent up front and if you give them chances it's only a matter of time before they start to bury them.
- Winnipeg has struggled to stay disciplined this season (they're averaging almost 15 penalty minutes per game) and the Devils power play has been pretty good this season, so that's something that's working in New Jersey's favor. The Jets have had a very good PK this year but taking a lot of penalties isn't exactly a recipe for success.
- Mark Scheifele has been getting chances all year (I watch a fair amount of Jets games and follow him closely) but to this point the numbers haven't come. He has just seven points in 19 games, but he's a very talented guy so it's only a matter of time before he gets hot. Hopefully for the Devils sake they can prevent that happening for one more game.
- I feel like Evander Kane always torches the Devils. He shoots from everywhere and can skate with the best of them so the Devils will need to be all over him tonight.
