I hope everybody had a wonderful holiday. The holidays are a great time to be with your family and friends and to relive the year that was and of course look ahead to the year that will be. For the Anaheim Ducks the past year has been nothing short of miraculous.
In the calender year of 2013, the Ducks have a record of 57-19-11. Of course that includes the entire lockout shortened season that began back in early January. Anaheim fell short in the playoffs, but came ready to play in October and even with a slew of injuries and personnel changes the Ducks show no signs of taking their foot off the gas.
The Ducks have played a road-heavy first half - which may or may not be good for the rest of the NHL. Anaheim is an NHL best 13-0-2 in the house that Mickey built.
Of course they are no slouches on the road either....
A strong 14-7-3 and road record has put the Ducks in position to run away with the Pacific in the second-half of this season. Why? Because the Ducks have already played nearly 60% of their entire road schedule before the Christmas break. They play 11 of the next 17 games at home and finish the season with five of their final eight games in Anaheim.
This type of scheduling puts the Ducks in a very good position to pile up wins and points.
Anaheim kick starts the post Christmas Break schedule at home Saturday night against the Phoenix Coyotes and they'll close out the 2013 calender year with a home-and-home series versus San Jose. And let's not forget that the Ducks are riding a NINE-game winning streak to boot.
Between the Ducks, the Stadium Series games, the Olympics and the Stanley Cup Playoffs, 2014 is already starting to feel like one of the best years EVER!
Again, I hope the holidays were kind to you and yours and may the rest of the 2013-14 schedule be filled with wins, points and shiny silver chalices for the Anaheim Ducks!
