Looking for their fourth straight win and sixth in seven games, Lindy Ruff's Dallas Stars (32-27-10) return home after a four-game road trip to take on Ken Hitchcock's St. Louis Blues (43-20-5) on Sunday evening. Game time at the American Airlines Center is 5:00 p.m. CDT. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Southwest.
This is the fourth of five meetings between the teams this season and the second in Dallas. Thus far, the Stars have fared well, going 2-0-1. On Oct. 28 in Dallas, the Blues earned a 4-3 overtime win. On Dec. 27 in St. Louis, the Stars nipped the Blues, 4-3, in regulation. On Feb. 17, the Stars earned a 4-1 road win.
The Stars went 3-0-1 on their recent road trip, including back-to-back wins over Carolina (5-3) on Thursday and Washington (4-2) on Friday. Kari Lehtonen has started each of the last three games and earned the victories.
On the Dallas injury front, rookie defenseman John Klingberg (lower body) is probable for Sunday's game. Veteran defenseman Trevor Daley (lower body), left winger Travis Moen (upper body) and second-year right winger Valeri Nichushkin (IR, hip surgery) are out of the lineup.
After defeating the Philadelphia in a shootout on Thursday after the two teams played to a 0-0 tie through 65 minutes of hockey, the Blues dropped a 3-1 decision on Saturday against Minnesota. St. Louis held a 42-19 shot advantage for the game, and the was tied at 1-1 until late in the third period when the Wild broke through for two goals to seal the outcome.
All-Star defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk (abdominal surgery) remains out of the St. Louis lineup S does veteran center Olli Jokinen (upper body).
