Seriously, What Year Does Lou Lamoriello Think It Is? (Coyotes)

It was like watching a game from ten or fifteen years ago: Scott Gomez scored on a breakaway and Mike Cammalleri added two goals, Jarimor Jagr was there, Zidlicky and Elias took penalties and the Coyotes of course have Shane Doan....it was pretty nostalgic.

Unfortunately, what could have been a perfect night was thwarted when Chris Chelios was made a healthy scratch. Still, it was bizarre during an intermission interview when Patrick Elias claimed to be the inventor of hockey.

Does anyone care to explain the Devils thought process in constructing this roster? Was Lou Lamorello was looking for contemporaries to play peaknuckle with him on road trips? Did he want a collection of players capable of programming a VCR? Of guys who get his Another World references?

Corey Schneider was fantastic, stopping almost 40 shots for his third shut-out of the season. The Coyotes outplayed the Devils, but still managed to lose their sixth in a row.

I had to double check, but it's a season high. After all the losing, it sure doesn't feel like this is their worst run of the year, but, a fact is a fact.

Fact: That is the eighth time the Coyotes have been shut-out this season.

Speculation: The only thing you're allowed to watch on the Devils team charters is this:

Let me paraphrase Dave Tippetts post-game press conference for tonight's episode of When Will This End? It will be either the classic "We just didn't have the effort out there. You aren't gonna win a lot of games like that. Our guys need to bring it a little harder."

Or it could be the equally excellent "We gave it our all and the breaks just didn't come. Their guy [he will mean the goalie] played excellent."

All in all, here's hoping the some trades go down soon.
