Senators Use Big Third To Crown Kings (Senators)

First off, due to Highway 401 traffic, regional viewing restrictions and spotty hotel internet, I didn't get to see a minute of this game live and am basing this solely on TSN highlights and very limited radio coverage. So forgive the brevity and lack of any real insight on this one.

But, for just the second time this season the Senators scored 4 goals in a period, this time notching 4 unanswered in the final frame to complete an improbable but desperately needed comeback for a win over the LA Kings. By the way, the first and only other 4 goal period came Dec 14th - against those same Kings.

Broken plays seemed to be the story of the day, with a number of goals (from both sides) being the result of more luck and right place right time than outright skill or execution.

Ottawa got some welcome and overdue production from its third line and hung around long enough, and it appears that Dave Cameron flip-flopped Bobby Ryan and Mike Hoffman and that kick-started the second line to cap the comeback. The first line continues their struggles with Mark Stone and Kyle Turris' +/- growing in a bad way like a snowball rolling downhill.

It was the 200th win of Craig Anderson's career, with probably no save being bigger than stopping Tyler Toffoli on a late second period penalty shot.

Regardless of how it looked and whether it was one that they may not have deserved or escaped with two points, it is two much needed points and they key will be building on it Tuesday night and evening up this road trip in San Jose.

I look forward to your comments on how the game actually looked...
