Final Score: Jets 3 – Blue Jackets 2
Game Summary
Frustrated, disappointed, pissed off, etc. This is what everyone in Blue Jackets land is feeling right now after another loss.
The score was close but this one didn’t feel that close. They Jets dominated right from the get-go, out shooting the Jackets 11-4 in the first period.
Bobrovsky had a terrible game. He let in three goals in the first period before being replaced by Curtis McElhinney. Two of the three goals were definitely on Bob. The first goal Bryan Little took a big slap shot, that beat Bob high. The third goal, Blake Wheeler threw it on net and Bob missed it. He didn’t look sharp at all, was really fighting the puck. Every save he did make he did not look comfortable. McElhinney came in and played great. He stopped all 16 shots he faced, and gave the team a chance to make a comeback.
Late in the game during a Blue Jackets four minute powerplay the fans started booing and booing loudly. After the game Lori Schmidt of 97.1 The Fan asked Ryan Murray about the boos. Murray was very emotional and he gave a minute long answer. I would highly recommend listening to it, if you haven’t already. The full audio can be found here. I understand and have no problem with the fans booing the team. They paid to be at the game they can say what they want. I also get where Murray is coming from. The team knows how they are playing. They hate it just as much, if not more than you do. What I got from the Murray audio was he wants the fans to be more supportive because the booing isn’t helping. Booing is just piling on an already bad situation. I'm sure the guys have heard about it from Torts, they know. What the team needs is not people to tell them how bad they are but they need people who support them.
Think about your daily life. When you go through a tough time what helps you more; being told how bad it is over and over again or someone telling you they support you. For me personally it’s the second one.
I saw a lot of people on Twitter complain about Murray and how he's whining or he should have a thick skin etc. The question I ask to those people is this why are you booing if you don’t want the players to react to it. This is the point of boing the home team, to send a message. Clearly Murray (and the rest of the team) heard the boos and don’t like it.
