There is a report today that the NHL and the International Olympics Committee have yet to come to an agreement regarding the next Winter Olympics to be held in South Korea...However, it is still possible that a deal is made in time..
One of the aspects of all of this that isn't often mentioned is the fact that just because the NHL may skip out on these Olympics it doesn't mean they will never participate in an Olympics again...In fact, I am told that it is probably 90% that the NHL will send their athletes to the following Olympics, 6 years from now, in China. Obviously, China is an emerging market for the league and 6 years from now could be even more so..
