Think the Ducks will win, the Pacific Division Western Conference, or even the Stanley Cup?
If you believe the Ducks can go all the way, there is money to be made. I did my annual check of online futures odds. Six different sports books have futures listed at oddsshark.com and there are some interesting differences of opinion.
Pacific Division
Anaheim is the overwhelming favorite to repeat as division champions. They are slightly over an even money bet. The surprise is that L.A. Is between 2/1 and 3/1.
Western Conference
As usual the Ducks are not the favorites. Chicago is the betting favorite to return to the cup finals. As the second favorite, Anaheim comes in at an average 3 or 4/1. There is value however, Topbet has them at 5/1 while the odds at Bovada are 11/2. There is a big difference between 3/1 and 11/2 when making the same bet. Four of the seven books surveyed have L.A. even with Anaheim. Lots of faith in the freeway rivals. Depending on the book, St. Louis and Nashville are just behind.
File this under weird: Mybookie.ag has both Nashville and Minnesota at 4/1 to win the West.
Stanley Cup
Chicago, as expected, go off as the top dog. The Ducks are generally lumped in with Tampa and NYR at approximately 8 or 9/1. Some sites have St. Louis and Pittsburgh in the mix as well. 15/2 is the low end at mybookie and betDSI. They go off at a favorable 11/1 at both Sportsbet and 5Dimes. If someone can explain to me how Mybookie has the Wild at 8/1 to win it all, I'd appreciate it.
Ducks Players (from Sportsbook.com.au)
Corey Perry 8/1 to win the Rocket Richard Trophy as the NHLs top goal scorer. Frederick Anderson 21/1 to win the Vezina. Sami Vatanen 31/1 to win the Norris. Ryan Getzlaf 18/1 and Perry 23/1 to Win the Hart Trophy as league MVP. Getzlaf 19/1 and Perry 33/1 to lead the NHL in scoring and take home the Art Ross Trophy.
A good realistic bet is the Ducks to win the Western Conference at 11/2. The next best bet on the board is Washington at slightly over 5/1 at Sportsbet to win the Metropolitan Division. Want a long shot, Florida and Vancouver are both 66/1 at Bovada to hoist the cup in June.
