New Jersey Devils Sign Anders Lindback, Brian Gibbons To PTOs (NHL)

With training camp just around the corner unsigned free agents are starting to accept tryouts in hopes of impressing and landing a contract.

One of the latest to do so is 28-year-old goaltender Anders Lindback, who has agreed to a professional tryout with the New Jersey Devils.

Lindback spent last season with the Arizona Coyotes and struggled mightily stopping just .894% of the shots he faced while winning just five times in 19 appearances.

Unfortunately for Lindback those struggles were nothing new as over the last three seasons he ranks 56th among 61 eligible goaltenders (minimum 2,000 minutes) in 5 v 5 save percentage.

It can't hurt to bring him in camp for a look but I certainly wouldn't expect him to beat out Keith Kinkaid and/or Scott Wedgewood for the backup job. I think this move has more to do with Cory Schneider's absence than anything else.

UPDATE: Also joining the Devils in camp on a tryout basis is forward Brian Gibbons. The speedy winger has played in 66 NHL games (41 with Pittsburgh, 25 with Columbus).
