Todd Cordell
1. Washington (29-7-3)
They're 8-1-1 in their last 10, they have a league-best plus-39 goal differential and Evgeny Kuznetsov looks every bit the part of a star. As if the Caps needed another one.
2. Dallas (28-10-4)
They've stumbled a bit of late yet they're just one point out of 1st in the league. That says a lot.
3. Chicago (24-13-4)
The Hawks have won seven of 10 and are starting to play like the team everyone knows they can be.
4. Los Angeles (25-12-2)
A list of the teams with more wins than Los Angeles: Washington and Dallas. They've been dominant since their 0-3-0 start.
5. Florida (24-12-2)
I can't see the Cats making a deep playoff run as currently constructed - their depth players have been crushed in possession on a nightly basis - but their stars have been excellent and they've won 10 in a row as a result. They deserve a top-5 spot.
Jason Lewis 1. Washington (29-7-3)
Still think they are the most complete team in hockey, top to bottom.
2. Dallas (28-10-4)
Niemi being good would really really really help their chances for a cup.
3. Los Angeles (25-12-2)
Tyler Toffoli is on pace for almost 40 goals..and Dwight King is back!
4. Florida (24-12-4)
Still a lot to like about Florida. Their defense is one of the best in the league. Not entirely convinced they keep getting the scoring from so many places though.
5. Chicago (24-13-4)
St. Louis is slipping as of late and Chicago is looking more and more like old Chicago.
