Lehn Me A Goalie (ullmark)

Robin Lehner did not take the practice ice on Thursday.

With Blake Shelton and his band in town to perform at rhe FNC tonight, the Sabres practiced at HARBORCenter.

Lehner was scheduled to have his ankle evaluated.

Sabres goaltending coach Andrew Allen dressed and manned Lehner's net at practice opposite Chad Johnson.

On Tuesday, the Sabres signed RPI goalie Jason Kasdorf to his one year entry level contract. However, he is recovering from his own injury and is not an option to play in Lehner's stead.

On October 8, Lehner suffered a high-ankle sprain in his Sabres debut on opening night. Lehner would miss 13 weeks of game action as his ankle healed.

Earlier this week, Lehner told Andrew Peters on "Sabres Hockey Hotline" that his ankle hasn't been 100% this season. The hulking goalie chalked it up to his grinding through the pain that sometimes flares up in his ankle.

On Thursday, Sabres bench boss discussed Lehner's ankle at his post prax presser.

“Having the high-ankle sprain, it’s an injury that probably doesn’t leave you for a good two and a half months,… Bylsma told The Buffalo News.

“Has he felt it ever since he’s come back and to this point? He has. It’s just the nature of the injury and dealing with it.

"A couple times he’s jammed it into the post and felt it a little more. It kind of happened a week ago and a little bit last night in the game. We’ll see.…

The Sabres host the Ottawa Senators on Friday night. I imagine that Linus Ullmark will he recalled from Rochester ilto back up a Chad Johnson if Lehner cannot go on Friday night. We will know more about Lehner's status on Friday.

Now you know why Lehner takes exception to forwards like Michael McCarron and Lars Eller entering his crease.
