Passing On Buyout Option?
The Maple Leafs 48-hour second buyout window created by going to salary arbitration expires on Thursday. There has been no indication that Toronto was considering this option as a mechanism for cap relief or to open up a roster spot on the Leafs or Toronto Marlies for the upcoming season.
Veterans Stephane Robidas, Joffrey Lupul and Matt Frattin appeared to be the only players on the Leafs roster where a buyout would make some sense, but it would not provide any cap relief in the case of Robidas and would result in a $1.75 Million cap hit for the next six seasons with Lupul.

Driven Dermott
Earlier in the week, it was 2015 top pick Mitch Marner that showed off his impressive skills in a 4-1 Team Canada exhibition victory over Russia. On Wednesday, it was Travis Dermott’s turn.
