Hotstove: Will The Minnesota Wild Make The Playoffs? (Wild)

Welcome to another edition of the Hockeybuzz hotstove.

The Minnesota Wild are rapidly climbing up the standings, but they're still not in a playoff spot just yet. In today's hotstove we'll predict whether or not they'll be in the playoffs at season's end.

Todd Cordell I predicted the Wild would make the playoffs in the summer, and I'm sticking to it. They have actually played good hockey all season long, but prior to acquiring Devan Dubnyk the team had the worst save percentage in the league.

With Dubnyk stabilizing their goaltending, and the team scoring plenty in front of him I can't see them missing the playoffs. I think they're better than Vancouver, Calgary and perhaps San Jose as well, so chances are they'll catch at least one of them.

Tim Chiasson Yes.

The Wild are only one point back of the playoffs now thanks to a huge string of big wins. I think they're a better hockey team than all of Vancouver, Calgary and San Jose right now so they shouldn't have a problem knocking one of them off.

Minnesota should have had a few more wins all season with the way they played before they started this hot streak. They haven't been a bad team all year, they've actually played decent but hadn't been getting the results they deserved. Now their continued solid possession and a nonhuman Devan Dubnyk have them ready to take over a wildcard spot.
