So following the trade yesterday in which Vancouver sent McCann 2nd, and a 4th to Florida for Gudbranson and a 5th it has never been more obvious that the Draft has become Trade Deadline 2.0.
Many of you emailed me or tweeted me that teams making trades while the season was still ongoing was strange, and while it is a relatively new thing you really have to consider where we are. We are only a month from the draft and a month and a week from UFA Day. In normal trade deadline terms that would be around Feb 1 in the regular season....and that is of course very much in the midst of trade speculation galore...
The fact is, if the Final plays out to 7 games (and its hard to say there isn't a good chance it will) the Finals will end on June 15th That leaves a whopping 9 days to get stuff done before Auston Matthews and company are selected in Buffalo. And with all that teams want to accomplish it simply isn't logical to think we won't see more deals go down here during the Cup Final.
So who is next? I am on it.
