Devils Trade Zidlicky To Red Wings (Marek Zidlicky NHL)

Just days after trading Jaromir Jagr to the Florida Panthers, New Jersey has traded another one of their top pending unrestricted free agents.

This time it's 38-year-old defenseman Marek Zidlicky, who has been traded to the Detroit Red Wings for a conditional 3rd round pick (2016) that will become a 2nd if Detroit advances to the Stanley Cup Final this season.

I was expecting an unconditional 2nd round pick in return, but perhaps Zidlicky's no-trade clause ruled out some potential suitors and pulled the price tag down.

Zidlicky is a capable puck mover who has a big shot, and can contribute on the power play. He's prone to too many turnovers at times, but his teammates are better with him on the ice than without.
