Newsday is reporting that Islanders general manager Garth Snow plans on keeping the entire coaching staff for next season. Snow also said that he does not foresee any front-office changes once Scott Malkin and Jon Ledecky take over as majority owners from Charles Wang on July 1.
The new owners, i would imagine have some say in this decision. It would do little good to make sweeping changes to the front office when the team is attempting to sign free agents on July 1. Then again it is the New York Islanders, as Garth Snow was hired in July 2006.
Malkin and Ledecky would also have some input in the June draft, held a week before they take control. You will still see Wang and his son on the podium taking pictures though.
Say what you want about the coaching staff, I certainly have, but the team finally won a playoff series and had two back-to-back 100 point seasons. The players play for Capuano. He had probably his best two months of his coaching career the final weeks of the regular season and the series against the Panthers. If only he had different forwards on the ice for the final minute of Game 3 against the Lightning.
