The Washington Capitals have acquired Lars Eller from the Montreal Canadiens.
The Caps dealt two 2nd draft picks in 2017 and 2018 for Eller.
Eller, a center, had 26 points (13 goals, 13 assists) in 79 games last season with a -13 rating. He will be entering his third year of a four year deal signed with the Canadiens for $3.5M.
The Capitals pick up a good two-way center who can play on the third or fourth line. Eller won't previde much scoring, but the 27 year old is an upgrade from the aged Mike Richards, who did play well for the Caps last year.
The Caps also acquired Kelowna Rockets defenseman Lucas Johansen with the 28th overall pick. Johansen, brother of Nashville's Ryan Johansen,
The 6'2", 176lbs d-man scored 49 points in 69 games last season for Kelowna.
