The Columbus Blue Jackets have taken care of some early house keeping, signing prospect Nick Moutrey to a standard three-year entry-level contract.
Great to have been the witness to Nick Moutrey signing his Entry Level NHL contract with the CBJ. So happy for Nick and his family. #proud
— Stan Butler (@CoachStanButler) March 6, 2015We're getting close to the deadline to sign prospects from the 2013 draft, so had Moutrey not signed soon he'd be eligible to be selected in this year's NHL draft.
Moutrey, 19, is having a solid year in the OHL having recorded 20 goals and 55 points in 54 games with Saginaw and now North Bay.
North Bay is a low-scoring, pro-style team so his numbers have taken a bit of a hit since being traded there - he has 14 points in 18 games - but they have the potential to go deep in the OHL playoffs, where his game is best suited for.
The 6'3' winger projects to be a bottom-6 player, and will likely turn pro and play in Springfield next season. He is eligible to return to North Bay for an overage season, though, so Columbus has options.
