Alfredsson Named Senior Advisor Of Hockey Operations (Senators)

The news that many have been waiting for for months, and at one point was in doubt, was finally released last evening, as the former Captain will return on a part time basis to the Team he called home for so long.

Eugene Melnyk, who was scapegoated by many as the reason he left in the first place, took great joy in making the announcement on his own twitter account:

What the title Senior Advisor of Hockey Operations exactly will entail is not specified, but it will be a chance to immerse himself in the running of the organization and groom him for potential future as a GM if he so desires.

Whatever his role, it is good to have him back in the fold officially and could a jersey retirement be in the cards later this season? The Red Wings, the only other franchise he suited up for, visit Canadian Tire Centre 3 times this season: Oct 31, Nov 16 and Feb 20. One of those games would provide a great opportunity to raise the #11 to the rafters.
