Wrap: Flyers Pay for Subpar Game vs. Ottawa in 5-3 Loss (Flyers)

The Philadelphia Flyers were unable to protect a pair of two-goal leads -- or a one-goal edge in the third period -- and fell to the Ottawa Senators, 5-2, in lackluster performance at the Wells Fargo Center on Sunday afternoon. The Flyers got outplayed in the second and third period, and paid dearly for it.

Philadelphia wasted three-point performances from defenseman Egor Zamula (two goals, one assist) and Joel Farabee (one goal, two assists). Tim Stutzle scored twice for Ottawa (delayed penalty on Tyson Foerster and a late empty-net goal). Former Flyers forwards Zack MacEwen and Claude Giroux tallied vital goals for Ottawa. Vladimir Tarasenko netted the game-winning goal for the Sens, who won on the road for just the fifth time all season (5-13-0).

Samuel Ersson stopped 29 of 33 shots on goal in a losing cause. Mads Sogaard earned the win with 22 saves on 25 shots.

The Flyers went 2-for-4 on the power play, and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill. The game was lost at even strength.
