Summary: The first period last night felt like it was going to be a brutal stretch. Two goals where the King got cleanly to the net (though Kopitar’s blocker pass was insane and perfect) to tap in a pass well away from Lyon. Wings are down 2-0, I have a newly broken toe from chasing a pack of Coyotes who came back again. Luckily our neighbors got them this time with flood lights and police sirens. So, I just passed out from the pain and woke up to see the highlight reel. Full disclosure better than the fake.

After the two early goals, Lyon locked down the net allowing just one more goal for 3 goals on 43 shots. There’s no discernible reason to take him out of net at this point. Fabbri, for all the injury issues, works as hard as anyone on the ice. Sprong figured into the offense again and Kane and Debrincat continue to show the synced up chemistry that was hoped for. Speak of which….

Debrincat is Detroit’s All Star this year. There’s always that part of me that wants me to see a homegrown player get down there but it would be hard to argue that Debrincat doesn’t rise up to the standard. Let me know your thoughts. Either way, Detroit is now 2 for 2 in California. A single point from Anaheim at least would make this a much needed trip. The win would be better, but the team is finding some much needed confidence. Lyon stepped up and made the saves needed. We’ll see what Anaheim brings to the table on Sunday.

Detroit First Period goals: No first Period goals for Detroit Score: 2-0 LA Shots: 17-8 LA

Detroit Red Wings Second Period goals: Fabbri gets Detroit on the board at 9:59. He skates the puck from the Defensive zone, dishes to Sprong on his right who sends it to Maata who finds Fabbri at the net front waiting for the tap in. 2-1 LA

Petry tied it up at 2 apiece with a slap shot from the blue line after a pass from Larkin from behind the net. 2-2

Shots: 13- 11 Score: 2-2

Third Period Detroit goals Fabbri’s second of the night comes on the power play. From the half wall the centerman got the puck to Debrincat who moved it quickly to Kane. Kane found Sprong near the right faceoff dot and Fabbri had moved to the front of the net. Sprongs shot rebounded right to Fabbri for the tap in. 3-2 DET

Shots: 10-6 Score: 3-3

Overtime: No goals scored Shots:3-2 LA Score:3-3

Shootout: Raymond and Kane scored to seal the deal. Raymond seems to be more confident, and Kane just did what he does. Got into the goalie’s head slowing down to about 3mph and snapped one home. Beauty.
