Not your same old Wild anymore. Yes, last night was another exciting and very entertaining tilt between the Wild and the West Division leading, Vegas Golden Knights. A thrilling 4-3 Wild victory as the boys held on late following the Golden Knighta late game charge.
We know this Wild team is in transition which in itself is very difficult, but to try to accomplish it and remain competitive in the process is all that much more daunting. To say the Wild are competitive is an understatement to say the least, but are they good enough to challenge the top tier yet?
That remains to be seen, but the signs are all pointing in a positive direction. Taking five points from the four games against the Golden Knights to the four Vegas got last week in their half of the home and home split by the weekend tilts for both clubs, the Wild have some momentum building as they quickly approach the midway point of the 56-game season.
Kaapo Kahkonen continued his strong play in goal and believe it or not the Wild powerplay looked very good and actually tallied their first pp goal in 19 man advantage opportunities.
It is a work in progress, but the Wild are making the rest of the league take notice.
