The Carolina Hurricanes returned to action, playing three games this week. Here’s the weekly recap.
HURRICANES WIN ALL THREE GAMES THIS WEEK
Carolina went 3-0 this week after returning from a break, beating the Tampa Bay Lightning 1-0 and sweeping their two-game series against the Dallas Stars. The Hurricanes currently hold a 5-1 record.
FAST, FOEGELE, MARTINOOK, SLAVIN AND TERAVAINEN REMAIN UNAVAILABLE
Jesper Fast, Warren Foegele, Jordan Martinook, Jaccob Slavin and Teuvo Teravainen remain unavailable for the Hurricanes and did not play this week. Jake Bean, Morgan Geekie, Max McCormick, Steven Lorentz, Sheldon Rempal and Drew Shore all saw action, as a result.
MRAZEK INJURED, NEDELJKOVIC CALLED UP
Goaltender Petr Mrazek was injured in yesterday’s game against the Stars and did not return. Alex Nedeljkovic was called up as a result.
JEREMY BRACCO PLACED ON UNCONDITIONAL WAIVERS
The Hurricanes placed forward Jeremy Bracco on unconditional waivers this week, for the purpose of terminating his contract. Bracco will spend the remainder of the year in Finland.
As for our poll questions this week, here are some of the results, along with my thoughts on how they turned out.
QUESTION: Do you think the Hurricanes will finish ahead of the Lightning this season?

Yes: 50% No: 50%
This is an optimistic response but given Carolina’s hot start and a shortened season, it’s a possibility. Tampa Bay has a great team once again but the Hurricanes have kept winning games, despite missing key players, which is a great sign.
QUESTION: Were you surprised Jeremy Bracco didn’t initially make Carolina’s roster/taxi squad?

No: 61% Yes: 39%
Bracco wasn’t going to make the roster, that said, he seemingly did have a decent shot at the taxi squad. He had produced well in the AHL leading up to this season and has yet to earn a chance in the NHL.
