The 16th overall pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft had an excellent introduction to the NHL before sustaining a high ankle sprain in early April that season. He even got a few games on the first pairing with Mark Giordano and put up positive results.
The following offseason, he injured his ACL, which caused him to miss the 2019-20 season.
He seemed to lose his confidence by the time he returned for the 20-21 campaign.
The 24 year old’s cap hit reduces to $425,000 if he clears waivers and plays in the AHL.
Good to see him go somewhere he can hopefully get his career back on track. He turned 24 only three days ago.
Here is a waiver list for today. It should also be noted that Wayne Simmonds has been offered out to any team willing to make a spot for him. Him or Bokonj Imama may serve as a useful enforcer if Lucic isn’t fully healthy.
