Five games for this Tuesday night and we have a few system plays. Nashville returns from an 8 game road trip, so play Detroit in this spot. The Devils meanwhile are sitting rested in Philly while the Flyers played last night. Plus the Avs/Yotes are playing back to back nights, play the under.
If you are watching the first period totals, like I mentioned yesterday in the column, teams are playing tighter defensively to start games. Last night a whopping 8 of 9 games went under the first period total!
**I have started to research teams that come off at least a 5 game road trip and how they fare in their first game back home.** Its 6-3 to date.
Scenario #1 – Teams that are rested, either sitting at home or on the road while their opponent plays the night before. 10-4 over the last 2 weeks of tracking it! As well, the under is a nice 8-5-1 in these spots!
Scenario #2 – Teams that are playing each other in back to back games, in which the home team loses the first game, the record of the home team in the second game is 58-34.
Scenario #3 – Teams playing back to back road games on consecutive nights tend to go under the total in the 2nd game. So far that trend is 23-21-1 when teams play on the road back to back nights.
Scenario #4 - One last angle I am tracking that is slightly profitable and similar to Scenario #1, is when any team loses the first game of a back to back against the same team, regardless if it’s on the road or at home, those teams are 81-61 in that situation.
Quick stat updates - First period totals going over were 1-8 last night and are 220-266 on the season. Road teams were 4-5 last night and are 228-251 on the season. Game totals going over the total were 3-6 last night and are 231-233-14 on the season.

NJ/Philly – Flyers won both meetings this season.
Florida/Chicago – Panthers have won all 4 match ups this season with 3 of them going over the total.
Detroit/Nashville – So these two teams have split the 4 match ups head to head this season. Weird stat, when Detriot wins it goes over the total, when Nashville win it goes under the total!
TB/Dallas – The Stars are playing their 7th game in 11 nights, beware of fatigue! TB only -155. Lightning have won all 3 match ups this season.
Avs/Yotes – Avs have won 4 of 5 head to head this season, including last night.
