Here's the play where Kirby Dach suffered his shoulder injury on Thursday.
— Ben Pope (@BenPopeCST) April 16, 2022
He was tripped a little by Meloche, then fallen on by Lafferty. Took one more shift in the 3rd period before leaving for good. pic.twitter.com/opaBckUpdj
An injury-riddled end to his entry-level contract isn't going to give Dach leverage on his side of the ledger when he and the Hawks discuss his next deal to enter the second phase of his career. Many would argue he had very little to negotiate with to begin with.
A realistic post-ELC contract for Dach is 2 years -- possibly 3 years -- at no more than $2M AAV but likely closer to $1.5M AAV. Give him more time to properly develop to reach his potential then allow him to cash in a bigger pay day later if he proves his worth.

* Jaxson Stauber served as Soderblom's backup in both games as Cale Morris backed up Kevin Lankinen for the Hawks with Collin Delia away from the team due to a family emergency.
* After being out with different ailments for about 2 weeks, Ian Mitchell returned to the lineup this weekend playing on the 2nd D pair on Saturday then the 1st pair on Sunday when he registered an assist.
* Brett Connolly is out day-to-day with a left knee injury sustained in Saturday's game.
* Chad Yetman and Riley McKay were recalled from the ECHL but only McKay saw game action with a spot on Sunday's roster.

Prospects Notebook
Thank you CC hockey for the past 2 years and all the friendships made. I’m excited to announce I will be transferring to St. Cloud State University to continue my hockey and academic career. #GoHuskies pic.twitter.com/4A2qQclYOb
— Dominic Basse (@dominic_basse) April 11, 2022
During his freshman and sophomore years, Basse played 17 and 24 games respectively at Colorado College so he wasn't necessarily hurting for ice time. As referenced in this article, his reason for transfering may be more due to differences in team philosophies.
Both in their senior years, Demin transfered from University of Denver to University of Massachusetts-Amherst while Wise transfered from Boston University to Ohio State University. Though Wise may have a slight chance, it's doubtful the Hawks sign them to ELCs.
Although not a college transfer, forward Colton Dach requested a trade and went from the Saskatoon Blades to the Kelowna Rockets last summer after the Hawks drafted him. Towering blueliner Taige Harding also went from the AJHL to the NCAA within this same year.
Dach is having a strong season blowing up to 29 goals and 50 assists so far in 61 games showing he can playmake and not just be a volume shooter. Harding needed more of a challenge by transitioning from a minor junior league to Division I college athletics.
It remains to be seen whether the move to another program enhances the capacity for each of these prospects to excel as a pro at least in the minors to start then ideally graduate to the NHL. For Demin and Wise, transfering may have come too little too late.
