Tough One Last Night in Columbus (Wild)

Last night's game in Columbus was a game between two very good teams that are both very well coached. Yes the result was not what we had hoped for but take the positives as they are.

The Wild controlled the majority of the play and really deserved a better fate. But that happens and the thing I find interesting this season is how often the Wild win a game they very well should have lost and almost immediately the opposite scenario occurs.

The Wild blinked first last night and the Saad goal squeezed in off of Dubnyk's stick. Yes a bit of a soft goal if you want to get technical, but the fact is Saad shot the puck to create a rebound and another scoring chance. He pounced on his own rebound and it found it's way in to the net. Ryan Suter got caught looking at the puck and missed his chance to negate Saad's approach to the net and the result was a goal.

Much is made of the officiating and the blown call of the Haula goal or non-goal as it turned out. Going to the Haula goal, my question is if it is not a goal when a player kick's the puck not toward the net, and it goes off of an opposing player how is that not a goal? So if by rule that's no goal then the rule needs to be changed, period.

I will not blame the officials for the result, but let's just say that it was less than NHL level last night and leave it at that.
