After this blog I will begin my Team Rumor Predictions/Previews....
The Colorado Avalanche ended their pre-season last night and still have Matt Duchene on the roster...Darren Dreger reported that talks for Duchene are "deathly quiet" and it appears as if Sakic is willing to go into the season with the team as is currently constructed...and if that is indeed what happens the Avalanche have done a disservice to the fans and the team.
I watched the Avalanche get a rare win last night against the Vegas Knights, and to be honest they were outplayed and ONLY Varlamov won them that game. The Colorado Avalanche needed a goalie to stand on his head to beat an expansion team last night. Think about that.
Teams want to deal. Montreal and Columbus especially want to add Duchene before the season opens. It is time for Sakic to take the initiative. Up until this point he has very much been listening to offers and saying "Not enough." Sakic has to start the negotiations because teams have grown very tired of that attitude...
Columbus appears to have all the right pieces, but has made many offers that were turned away..
Montreal may not have the defenseman, but they do have Galchenyuk and a winless pre- season staring them down.
Talking to people this morning I get a sense the Avalanche are going to get more aggressive and take the lead on this...The next few days will be very interesting...
On the Flyers...
They may not be there quite yet, but at many points in last night's game against the Bruins you could see how this Flyers team could really surprise people...They are by far the fastest Flyers team we have seen and the youth is bringing tons of energy. They also have a ton of competition going on for spots on the roster...Sam Morin played another phenomenal game last night and is making a case for starting in Philly, although it sounds like he may be a Phantom for a while longer...As could Oskar Lindblom.
Many are picking the Flyers to NOT be a playoff team right now...I am not so sure.
We will discuss all this and more on the Buzzcast at 2pm:

It's the best fantasy game every created. Of course, we're a little biased. The HBSL is a hybrid between a salary cap game and a head-to-head fantasy game. Each week you create your 20 man roster based on the actual NHL salary cap and the actual salary cap hits. You then face-off with a fellow hockey fan. At the end of the regular season, we throw the best 128 teams into a 7-week playoff.
There is a Season Ticket Holder bracket and a Free bracket.
HBSL STH Bracket Entrants who were season ticket holders at the start of the NHL season are eligible for the following prizes:
