Ok...so I feel that EVERY angle has been discussed regarding Tavares, so I am going to try another angle...
My challenge: To make this waiting game interesting and full of intrigue...
In the Beach Boys song "Sloop John B" he repeatedly says, "I wanna go home." and while "home" could be interpreted as Toronto, he says, "Around Nassau town we did roam..."
So....
Here is all we know...
* As has been reported a few thousand times, if Sloop John T wants to sign an 8 year deal it has to be before midnight on Saturday night and with the Islanders.
* According to my sources Tavares and "The Agency" have told the "Super Six" that they will know ASAP so as not to miss out on any other possibilities while they are waiting to be let down.
* I am told that all the meetings were very professional and John was careful not to tip his hand...I was told by a source in Tampa, for what it's worth, that it went 'much better than they expected.'
* Conspiracy theorists might say Tavares met with the teams in the order he likes them....San Jose, Toronto, NY, Boston, Dallas, and Tampa...
* My gut tells me he returns to New York. But my gut used to feel this was for certain...now I don't really know...
* The "signs" I would usually look to point to Toronto or the Isles in a dead heat...
* If the mascots where to battle it out....
