The Islanders have relieved Garth Snow and Doug Weight of their duties.... I am hearing that DJ Smith is going to be their new coach...may be a few days until it is announced, but that is what I am hearing...we will see....more to come

Has the Knight been slain?
Nope. Not yet. Watching last night's game in person it was blatantly obvious that the Knights have much left in the tank and while the Caps came out with a 6-2 victory the Knights accomplished some important things last night:
1. They showed their speed could trap the Caps and make their defense jittery... 2. They scored twice on Holtby and beat him with several other shots that just found the pipe. 3. They had all the bad luck in the world and still got it to 4-2 and just missed on a shot that would have made it 4-3 before Oshie broke Miller's nose and the Caps got the goal to put it away. 4. They are angry and going home.
The Leafs and Jets working a MAJOR Swap. (e4)
Talked last night to a league source who confirmed the Leafs had talked to three teams (so far) about JvR's rights... Carolina, Philly and Winnipeg...and there was an expectation of the three NY Metro teams having UFA JvR on their radar as well...but maybe more as a contingency plan should other deals the Rangers, Islanders, and Devils were working on fall through...
"And at least one of the NY teams deals will fall through because they are chasing the same player," my source added...
My source said that after it appeared Vancouver was offering more for Hanifin the Leafs have looked towards Trouba in Winnipeg instead of Justin Faulk...The source said that JvR and 1 other player (speculated Gardiner) and draft pick would go to the Jets for a "three player package that includes Trouba and a very strong prospect...
All moving targets this time of year, but interesting for sure...hints as to what teams are thinking are starting to get easier to come by. There is a ton of work teams need to do between now and the Draft and very little time to do so...so rumors get harder to keep hidden. Fun times!
